Before negotiation
1. Rehearse your negotiation training/preparation before the actual negotiation to increase personal efficacy.
2. Know the rules. Most companies allow for salary negotiation while some others have a clear non-negotiation policy.
3. Prioritize your negotiating points and use that to drive your strategy.
4. Allow the employer to present you with the offer. You might be happily surprised! If not, be ready to negotiate.
5. Remember this is a business deal. Keep your emotions in check.
6. Some companies allow Human Resources to make the offer to candidates. Negotiate with the decision maker.
7. Reiterate your value to the employer as a part of the negotiation.
