Creating Math Code with MathType (the free version)

MathType offers both a free version and a free online version. This page is about the free online version of the  MathType MathML editor Links to an external site.  (formerly branded as the WIRIS editor) and the  ChemType editor  for creating chemical notation.

Please meet with a member of the consulting team before doing a lot of math code work as we can provide time-saving suggestions and help you avoid common pitfalls.

Create MathML Code and Chemical Notation ​

  1. Go to the  MathType MathML editor. Links to an external site.

  2. Type in a math equation (we will use 
    LaTeX: \frac{1}{2}+\frac{3}{4}=x12+34=x
    as our example).

  3. MathML code will be automatically generated in the MathML box. Copy the code.

  4. In Evolution or Canvas, open the source/HTML view, and paste the MathML code into your page.
