Video 2.1 Study in the way you will be tested

It can be very valuable to ask your professor what content they think that you should prioritize in studying for the exam and what format (multiple choice, essay, matching, etc.) the exam will be presented in.

If you know the format of your exam ahead of time, then it is extremely valuable to study in the same way that you will be tested. For example, if you know that you will be asked to match the names of generic medications with their brand names then you could use a website like Quizlet.com to practice matching these or simply write the generic names on one set of flashcards and the brand names on another set and practice matching the names.

However, if you know that you will need to write an essay about the difference between brand name medications and generic medications. You would want to spend your studying time researching this, reading your textbook, and reviewing your notes from class when you discussed the topic.

This highlights the important point that you will not and should not study for every test the same way. Each test is different and may require different strategies. You can learn more about this by playing Video 2.1.
