What to Expect from BlendLT
In this module, you'll learn about the basic principles of blended learning and best practices for blended course design. You will have the opportunity to engage with other Faculty at Penn State who have successfully blended their courses, view samples of successful courses, and reflect on the direction of your own blended course.
Learn about what you can expect from each from BlendLT: the Workshop, FLCs, and Self-Paced Exploration.
Blend LT Workshop Series
The BlendLT workshop series occurs once a year during the Summer session. Faculty apply for the series during an RFP process that opens in March each year. The workshops consist of 6-7 meetings where faculty will learn and apply the basics of blended learning. Participants will work through the BlendLT Learning Path as a group and consult with instructional designers to implement course changes. By the end of the workshop series, one module/unit of the revised course will be completed, with plans in place for the remainder of the course revisions.
Blend LT Faculty Learning Communities
Faculty members who previously attended BlendLT are eligible for support for BlendLT Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs). BlendLT FLCs consist of 4-8 faculty members who want to work through the BlendLT Learning Path as a group, led by the former BlendLT workshop participant. The FLC will have access to the Learning Path, the course text (The Blended Course Design Workbook available electronically from the PSU library), a Canvas companion course, and an instructional design consultant from Teaching and Learning with Technology.
The Blend LT Learning Path for Self-Paced Exploration
The BlendLT Learning Path is an open education resource and available to anyone but is most effective for Penn State faculty as some of the resources are specific to our institution. Interested faculty can work through the entire Learning Path or reference it for just-in-time resources.
