The Transfer Credit Tool
If you have college credit from another institution, you can use the Transfer Credit Tool Links to an external site. to see how your previous courses will transfer to Penn State. You can also employ it if you're considering taking a course at another college or university while you're enrolled at Penn State. This tool allows you to search an extensive database of American and international institutions for courses that might transfer to Penn State.
If you're considering taking a course at another college or university while enrolled at Penn State, you should
- speak to your academic adviser to discuss your goals and course choices, and
- use the Transfer Credit Tool to determine whether the course you would like to take has been previously evaluated for transfer.
The following specific criteria must be met for a course to be considered for transfer to Penn State:
- You must be enrolled in a baccalaureate or associate degree program at Penn State.
- Your previous coursework has been completed at a regionally accredited institution.
- You earned a grade of C (2.0) or higher in the course.
- Following completion of the course, an official transcript must be received by the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Have the transcripts sent to:

Transfer Credit Tool Overview
Once you navigate to the Transfer Credit Tool home page Links to an external site., you'll need to select the Transfer Credit Tool button to begin your search (see Figure 4.4).

The page that you will be directed to has three tabs and is shown in Figure 4.5:
- Transfer Credit Tool Home, which provides an overview of the tool and transfer credit policy;

- Search by College/University and view Penn State Evaluation, which is where you can find information on how previously reviewed courses will transfer into Penn State (we'll look at how to use this function in a moment);

- and finally, the Search by Penn State course and view equivalents at other institutions tab (see Figure 4.7), where you can search for equivalent courses from another institution using Penn State's course designations. This tab is useful if you are looking to take a course at another institution while already at Penn State.
