Getting Started in LionPATH
Official University business, such as registering for classes, checking your grades, viewing your milestones, paying your bill, etc., is conducted via LionPATH Links to an external site.. When you log into LionPATH, you will be directed to the Student Home Base. This is the page you will utilize most often.
The LionPATH Student Home Base Page
The Student Home Base Page is a hub where much of the information about you as a student can be found. This is where you find information on your current schedule, grades from previous semesters, milestones assigned by your program or the Graduate School, notifications of any messages, and upcoming or overdue items on your To Do List.
Pre-Registration Activity Guide
One of the notifications that will populate here quite often is the Pre-Registration Activity Guide. This guide consists of a collection of tasks that need to be verified or updated every semester. You will need to complete this verification every semester prior to enrolling, so be sure to complete the guide when you are notified that it's available to you.
Milestones
During your time as a graduate student at Penn State, you will have academic milestones to complete. The Milestones tab in LionPATH will let you drill down for more details on what has been completed and what remains to be completed.
Holds
Please be sure that you pay attention to the information you see on this page. If left undone, the holds and items on your To Do List can prevent you from completing important actions such as registering for your courses, so it's important for you to take action on them as soon as possible. To view more information on the holds on your account or to take action on your To Do tasks, you can select either the Holds or the To Do List tabs found across the top of the page for details on each item.
Additional Options
The Student Home Base page also contains buttons that take you directly to pertinent areas of LionPATH such as Finding Classes, Enrollment, and Academic Records. There is also a Quick Links box, which provides you with immediate access to other commonly used student systems and webpages, like your Penn State email, Graduate School forms, Starfish, and Canvas.
LionPATH Navigation
While the Student Home Base page contains much of the information that you'll want to see on a day-to-day basis, if all the information and processes available to you in LionPATH were on that page, it would be quite unusable. Considering this, review the multiple navigation options available as these will give you access to additional LionPATH resources ranging from personal information, tuition and finance information to advising information.
