The Graduate Writing Center (GWC)

Penn State’s Graduate Writing Center provides free peer-to-peer, one-to-one consultations to graduate student writers seeking assistance and support at any point in their writing efforts. The consultants at the writing center will assist at any stage of the writing process regardless of genre including, but not limited to:

• Thesis/Dissertation Proposals and Chapters
• Graduate Coursework, such as lab reports and seminar papers
• Conference Abstracts and Conference Talks/Presentations
• Personal Statements
• Letters of Application and Interest
• CVs and Resumes
• Teaching Philosophies
• Research Article Manuscripts

The GWC can help with critical reading, public speaking, and integration of new media applications with writing objectives through both in-person and remote consultations. The GWC also offers interdisciplinary workshops, sponsors writing groups, and provides a variety of online resources.
