Undergraduate and Graduate Students without an Assistantship, Fellowship or Traineeship
The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) for Penn State medical benefits are the same for all students.
To enroll in the SHIP for Penn State, please visit LionPATH Links to an external site. 24–48 hours after you have enrolled in classes. Please have your local address for the Penn State campus that you are attending as you will need to update that address in LionPATH to enroll in the SHIP for Penn State. Students will be directed to either enroll in the SHIP for Penn State or waive coverage by submitting their current health insurance information. International students who enroll in SHIP for Penn State will see their insurance premium added to their LionPATH account with tuition in August and in January. If you submit a waiver application and it is approved, the insurance premium will be removed from your LionPATH account. If you do not take action to submit a waiver or enroll in the SHIP for Penn State, you will be automatically enrolled in the SHIP for Penn State and will be responsible for the premium charges (Fall and Spring/Summer) on your LionPATH account.

Voluntary Dental Insurance
Individual dental insurance is available to interested students. The Choice Dental Plan, offered through Gallagher Student Health & Special Risk, allows participants to select any dentist of their choice, or select a provider from the Ameritas Classic Network participating providers list. The dental policy pays a yearly maximum benefit amount of $1,000 for covered services. Voluntary Vision Insurance
Individual vision insurance is available to interested students. The Vision Insurance is offered by Gallagher - Student Health & Special Risk. The plan allows for:
- Eye Exam every 12 months beginning day one.
- Lenses & Frames or Contact Lenses once every 24 months.
