Mind Mapping
The technique of Mind Mapping is a creative and logical way to organize information, and it can be used effectively in either electronic or paper format. It is an illustration of your thoughts and ideas on a topic by visually capturing information in a hierarchical and organized web, with branches paths, ideas, words, and images. Mind maps are a great note-taking tool if you're studying for an exam or writing an essay, or if you're a visual learner, because you organize the information in a way that works for you.
How-To:
Mind maps begin with a single concept, often placed in the center of the page. From that central idea, you can draw or write other supporting ideas, adding details and keywords as necessary.
The following video provides a great example of the basics of mind mapping and why it can be a useful tool. The speaker also creates a mind map so you can see what it looks like.
