Learn about mobile apps for faculty and students

Mobile Browsers

Both faculty and students may choose to access and interact with Canvas courses from a mobile device, and while Canvas can be accessed via a mobile browser, not all versions are supported. For the best user experience, we recommend using the free Canvas Teacher and Canvas Student apps.

To learn which browsers are supported, refer to the document below:

Navigate Canvas from mobile

The Canvas app will allow you to access most of the features in your Canvas courses, but navigation on a mobile device is a little different compared to navigation on a computer. Use the following tips for using the Canvas Teacher app on your mobile device:

  • Global navigation options in the Teacher app are different than the global navigation options on the website.
  • You cannot change your course settings through the Teacher app.
  • You cannot add, edit, or manage modules through the Teacher app.
  • Quizzes cannot be created in the Teacher app, but students can take quizzes in the Student app.
  • You can move to another student's submission by swiping left or right.
  • Tap and hold a rubric number to see its description.
  • Video, audio, and text comments all work in the Teacher app.
  • The draw, highlight, and strike out tools in SpeedGrader can be used in the Teacher app.
