Tutoring and Academic Support
As a distance learner, you might be wondering how (or if) you can access tutoring, should you need it. Well, wonder no more! One of the benefits that you have as a World Campus student is access to multiple methods of tutoring, if the need arises. Let's take a look at them now.
Tutor.com
Video 3.1. How Can I Use Tutor.com
The first of these methods to explore is Tutor.com (watch Video 3.1 for a quick overview). This service connects you online with professional tutors who can help you with understanding concepts and working through Penn State World Campus course assignments. These tutors are available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so when you're available, they're available.
Tutor.com also offers writing assistance. You can access this assistance by uploading your paper to Tutor.com, and you'll have feedback from your tutor within 24 hours.
Please bear in mind, however, that not all World Campus courses are supported by Tutor.com. If your course is supported by Tutor.com, instructions for accessing tutoring services will be available in the course syllabus or on the course home page. If your course isn't supported, there are other options available to you.
LinkedIn Learning
If self-paced instruction on a certain subject or program is what you're looking for, we have a solution for that as well. Penn State has a relationship with LinkedIn Learning Links to an external site., and as a World Campus student you have free access to all of the tutorials housed on this amazing site. With tutorials on a diversity of subjects from acoustics to web design, LinkedIn Learning is a great way to increase your expertise in a huge array of areas. This can be particularly useful when looking for a tutorial on a specific type of software—so make sure that you check out what LinkedIn Learning has to offer!

Math Essentials and Pre-Courses
While not tutoring per se, the Math Essentials course is another resource that has been created to help students prepare for an upcoming math course(s).
Taking this course can help you determine just how ready you are for a math course on your schedule. This is done by helping you to become familiar with the language that will be used in your upcoming course, as well as showing you how to set up and solve some of the problems that you are about to encounter.
This free noncredit course is available for the following courses: MATH 004, MATH 021, MATH 022, and MATH 110. Visit the Math Essentials Course Links to an external site. for more information.
The final option that we're going to look at also has to do with math and is called the Math Pre-Course. The Math Pre-Courses are free, optional courses for students who are scheduled for a course for the upcoming semester. They allow you the opportunity to enter the course two weeks prior to the start of the semester in order to get a head start on course material.
Pre-courses are now offered for the following courses: MATH 004, MATH 021, and MATH 022.
Visit the Math Resources Links to an external site. page for additional information.
