Introduction

The course calendar is used to organize and display events and assignments to make it easy for students to stay on top of due dates in all of their courses.

Get to know the Canvas calendar

The calendar in Canvas is a global feature, meaning that your students can see all of their assignments and events from all courses in one place. If the Calendar becomes too crowded, it can be filtered by selecting or deselecting courses.

NOTE: The Canvas calendar automatically displays any due dates you set for your course assignments, quizzes, or discussions, but you can also use the calendar to manually create events and milestones throughout your course. You'll learn more about creating assignments and quizzes with specific due dates in Module 5, but for now, use the resources below to familiarize yourself with the features and options available in the calendar.

Use the Scheduler

Access the scheduler tool in the top right corner of the calendar page. This tool lets you set up "appointment groups" that students (or student groups) can sign up for. For example, you could use the scheduler to have students sign up for your office hours, to schedule presentation times, or to hold other types of appointments.
